Born and raised in Ku-ring-gai, Matt has always had a strong connection to community. From his early days playing local junior footy to his service with the Ku-ring-gai Rural Fire Brigade, he has been deeply involved in local life. Matt has also volunteered on numerous local boards and committees, developing key leadership qualities and gaining valuable insights into local needs and decision-making.
Professionally, Matt (BCom) has a background and qualifications in accounting and finance before he further specialised in supply chain logistics and project management. Satisfying his passion for education & public infrastructure, these days Matt works with his team to deliver new and expanded public schools for the Department of Education.
Matt is committed to ensuring that Council prioritises the needs of residents and that is responsive to community demands. As an Independent Councillor, he will be hard-working, accountable, and always focused on achieving the best outcomes for Ku-ring-gai.
With no current or former political party affiliation, Matt aims to serve the Comenarra Ward and the entire Ku-ring-gai municipality with great passion, integrity and dedication.
TRUE COMMUNITY INDEPENDENT
Matt is thrilled to be running as a true independent – a proper community independent. Matt has never held political party membership, and has never been associated with or participated in any political interest group.
Commentary on Current Council
As an engaged citizen, Matt has been a regular attendee of the public gallery at Ku-ring-gai’s monthly Public Forum and Council Meetings. By his accounts and those of others, the conduct of some long-serving councillors has been abhorrent to witness, and an embarrassment for us all. This is unacceptable, we must not tolerate this poor behaviour from ‘yesterday’s heroes’ any longer. Matt decided to contest this election in the hope of reinvigorating an era of positive, mature and collaborative decision-making to ensure better and more transparent governance in Ku-ring-gai.
Matt believes that our councillors should always be responsive, accessible and accountable to residents. He will stand ready to assist residents and advocate for community groups and local businesses in dealings with Council. Comenarra Ward should no longer remain the forgotten ward of Ku-ring-gai, we need representation for the here and now.
